What Does A Victim Advocate Do?

Victim advocates provide support to victims as they navigate the overwhelming number of systems through which they may work to rebuild their lives: the courts and legal system, housing agencies, healthcare providers, or anything else they may need to move on successfully.

One of our primary goals is to empower victims and reinforce their independence so that they may become safe, secure, and stable. CDP helps them build support networks, find housing, and/or employment opportunities.

Advocates work with victims from the initial crisis call to their last day in court and beyond. An advocate’s work is fulfilled when their client is operating on their own and no longer need support.
